The Song That Is Everywhere

I'm not someone who necessarily pays attention to the music in TV shows, but even I will notice if I hear the same song in three pilots. Three! The song in question is "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John. Sorry if it's stuck in your head now like it is in mine.

I first heard it as the "Gossip Girls" pilot opened with a view of New York City. I heard it again in "Dirty Sexy Money," in pretty much the same context. I heard it for the third time during "Big Shots" last night. Now, all these shows are on different networks, I get that, but I still think it's pretty funny that the same "hip" song shows up in three pilots in the space of two weeks. Maybe these guys can be the new...those guys that sang the "Friends" song.

(Emmy) In a Box

Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg have won a Creative Arts Emmy for their SNL short "(Blank) In a Box." I had to laugh at the way the AP story describes the video:

"(Blank) in a Box," last December's fake music video performed by Timberlake and "SNL" cast member Andy Samberg, is about wrapping a part of the male anatomy and presenting it to a loved one as a holiday present."

To a loved one! The Creative Arts Emmy Awards take place in Hollywood a week before the big show.

VMA Hangover

Did you guys watch the VMAs last night? No? OK, well, Britney's performance wasn't any good, Justin Timberlake won almost all of the awards, and Kid Rock and Tommy Lee got in a fight backstage. Yeah, you didn't miss much. MTV is streaming pretty much the whole shebang on their web site.
