'30 Rock' Is The New 'Office'
I've been surprisingly okay with reruns of "The Office" these last couple weeks - reruns I haven't been watching. It used to be that I'd start looking forward to a new episode of "The Office" on Tuesday night. I watched "30 Rock," too, and sometimes "My Name Is Earl," but Thursday was really about the Scrantonicity.
Now that the strike has forced "The Office" and "My Name is Earl" into reruns I just watch "30 Rock." It lasts half an hour - really twenty three minutes - and yet that's somehow enough. I feel happy. I don't miss the rest of the "comedy block" too much. Or at all. Face it, this season of "The Office" has been dull, dull, dull and "30 Rock" has killed, absolutely killed.
Tonight's "30 Rock" is the last new episode for a while, and I'm heartbroken.
Face it, "30 Rock" now is what "The Office" was in its second season. Remember episodes like "E-Mail Surveillance" and "The Injury"? Remember how freaking funny they were? It's not the same now. "30 Rock," on the other hand, is bringing us insta-classic episodes like "Greenzo" (Kenneth's party!), "Somebody to Love" (a.k.a. "A Dog Took My Face and Gave Me a Better Face to Change the World: The Celeste Cunningham Story") and "Cougars."
Admit it, you laugh more at Tracy than Dwight. Jack is an even crazier boss than Michael. There is no Jim equivalent on "30 Rock," and you're even okay with that. The only thing we have to worry about is that "The Girlie Show" staff will start pairing off. (Please don't let this happen!)
