'Gossip Girl:' No Country for Old Flames
Last night's episode of "Gossip Girl" was intense, to say the least. The show dealt with some pretty hefty issues - Blair's eating disorder, The Captain's suicide attempt - and I think it did it with aplomb. Aplomb, such a Dan Humphreys word, but there it is.
Is it so very wrong to observe that drunk Serena is a lot more fun than sober Serena? I especially liked how no one cared that she was drunk. Mama Eleanor was also a bit of a scene-stealer in last night's episode. Overall, the parent drama was great. The kids could learn a thing or two! I especially loved Alison's cold-as-ice appraisal of Lily as she stood there holding her kids' coats. Poor Rufus. He didn't know where to look. He seems a bit dim. I guess Dan must have inherited his vocabulary from his mom.
Whatever you may think about "Gossip Girl," you have to love a Thanksgiving episode that features one bona fide couple and two other kids who are at least mildly attracted to each other sitting around together in a bedroom discussing whether they could be related. Of course, it still ended with the obligatory fake family touch football match. Nine points out of ten.
