6月9日 'American Gladiator' Teams Up with 'Hulk' MovieI just got done watching the hour-long plug for Friday's "The Incredible Hulk" movie that was masquerading as an episode of "American Gladiators."
Hoo boy.
At least it was a better idea than the "Star Wars"-themed "Deal or No Deal." But then, that's setting the bar pretty darn low.
As you probably saw if you watched NBC at all the last week, the show painted one of the gladiators green. They also gave audience members Hulk fists (which was kind of amusing, because a lot of them seemed to only have one. I was wondering if they managed to lose the other one, or if NBC happened to be cheapskates or what.)
They changed the balls in Powerball to green and green and black.
And they dragged out Lou Ferrigno of the old "Hulk" TV show and made him flex for old time's sake.
Don't they know that people who watch "AG" are well aware of "Hulk" and at best are going to be turned off by this sort of display?
The saddest thing was they promised an exclusive sneak peek at the movie and I don't think there was anything they showed that was much more than what was in the trailer.
Of course, it's just coincidence that "Hulk" and "Gladiators" share corporate roots.
I personally think that NBC Universal should try this kind of synergy with all its shows. Unfortunately, the timing's off for "Hulk," but imagine if "Chuck" and "The Office" had a bunch of jokes about it. What about someone getting killed on "Law & Order" from an overdose of radiation?
