    Channel Surfing--March 27, 2007

Random happenings in TV land today …

    - "The View" producers are so happy with their rotation of guest hosts that they're mulling the idea of not hiring a permanent replacement for Star Jones. Too bad; I still think Sherri Shepherd is the best fit with the show.

    - CNN, make way for ONN, the Onion News Network, a 24-hour fake news network that will unspool at Theonion.com with content that's "faster, harder, scarier and all-knowing."

    - April 7: The day you can watch the entire new season of "Punk'd" on MTV, or ignore the entire new season of "Punk'd" on MTV.

    - "The Office" creator Ricky Gervais is making his U.S. stand-up debut in New York in May. Must. Get. Tickets.

    - Heather Locklear has landed another TV series. She'll star in the ABC comedy pilot "See Jayne Run," about a mom who's trying to balance her home life with her career as a stockbroker. Sounds … boring.

    - Former "Roswell" star Jason Behr has taken the lead in the Fox pilot "Company Man" (previously known as "NSA Innocent"), about a man who's forced to become an NSA employee so he can spy on his boss. The show's from the team of "24" producers/writers/directors that includes Bob Cochran, David Ehrman, Jon Cassar, Joel Surnow and Howard Gordon.

    - The hottest new online series? ABC's "Voicemail," which, just as the title suggests, is based on the real voicemails that co-creator Michael Wilde has received as he goes about his life of slackerdom and single guyhood. The clips have already been downloaded more than 600,000 times.

    - "24" guest star, and "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" star Kal Penn is going to be a University of Penn teacher.

    - Some "American Idol" contestants claim they knew the day they were voted off that they were about to get the boot.

    - Former "The Sopranos" star Joe "Joey Pants" Pantoliano is more than a little ticked off about that Vanity Fair photo shoot featuring the cast.

    - The famous "Star Trek" apartment is for sale.

    - Is Superman Tom Welling starring in a "Teen Wolf" remake?

    - And "South Park" is spoofing Hillary Clinton and "24" this week.
