Kate's take: It's September and new shows are coming at us left and right. The latest? "Privileged." I haven't seen this one yet, but I haven't heard good things. The basic idea is that a woman from a middle class background with a whole lotta student loans ends up as a live-in tutor for a pair of spoiled brats.

Paper thin premise? Check! Potential for humor, irony...plot? Low. Am I going to watch it anyway? Yes!

"Privileged" premieres tonight at 9:00 on The CW.

Raoul's take: I was 'privileged' to get a screener of this one. It starts with smoke forcing our heroine Megan -clad only in a towel- out on a fire escape. A little boy some stories down says, "Hey lady! I can see your va-jay-jay!" And "hilarity" just keeps rolling...or not.

After getting fired from her New York writing job, Megan takes an in-house job tutoring teen terrors Sage and Rose. When Megan goes to their room to introduce herself, a still-in-bed Sage tazes her and goes back to sleep. See! More "hilarity!" It ensues all up in this piece. Sage turns out to be the meaner girl, while Rose still has shreds of decency in her. Sage tries to engineer Megan's firing in retaliation for preventing the girls from being on a racy photo shoot. But Megan's standing up for herself with a speech that includes a reference to Spider-Man's Uncle Ben (about the only part of the pilot that semi-amused me, purely on geek value.) wins over the girls' grandmom and she gets to stay on. Megan's ultimate goal is to get the girls into Duke, in which case she will get all her college loans paid off. (How privileged can this family be if they can't get themselves into Duke based on their money alone? And shouldn't Megan be able to pay off her student loans on a salary of $1500 a week, with room and board and other expenses completely taken care of?)

So we're given threads for future plot twists: Will Megan be able to win the girls over and teach them a thing or two? Will she learn just as much from them? Will she fall for the cute guy working at a restaurant she's been friends with for a while or the cute rich guy who lives next to the spoiled brats? How will she adjust to the lifestyles of the rich and famous? Will she become less estranged from her estranged sister? Will Rose learn to stand up to Sage?

Will the sassy black gay chef on this show get set up with the sassy black gay cook on "True Blood"? And what exactly forced poor Anne Archer to take a role in this?

Look for the answers to these and other questions in the two or three episodes before the CW pulls the plug.
