8月5日 As Seen On TV FilterHey fellow tube fans. We hear you all want to know who exactly is behind these groovy new MSN Filter blogs, and while I personally think your time would be better spent watching a "Degrassi: The Next Generation" rerun, here goes . . .
I've been covering entertainment/pop culture since I moved to New York City in 1994. I'm currently a contributing editor at Inside TV magazine, write a weekly movie reviews round-up column for iVillage, and contribute articles to Movies.com and E! Online. And just to do a little more name checking, other publications on my resume include TV Guide, US Weekly, Daily Variety, iFilm.com, Playboy.com, Twist, Teen, Yahoo! Internet Life, Disney publications, the TNT Network, The Detroit Free Press and The Cincinnati Enquirer.
I've published a couple of books for the teen market and also worked as a graphic designer and sports writer, but I'm happiest when I'm working on any project that gives me an excuse for watching good – and even really, really bad - TV. To all those entertainment types who think TV is slumming, I say you've never seen an episode of "24," which is better than pretty much any movie I've ever seen.
Other shows on my must-see-TV list: "Gilmore Girls," "Lost," "Reno 911!" "Chappelle's Show" (come back, Dave!), "Best Week Ever," most HBO series, "Arrested Development," made-for-TV chick flicks on Lifetime, "Alias," anything that shows how stuff is made (love "Unwrapped" on the Food Network), Letterman (just as you're either a dog person or a cat person, you're also either a Letterman fan or a Leno fan; I'm all about Dave and puppies), "Desperate Housewives" (which is NOT a comedy, despite what the Emmy folks say), "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends," and the greatest show of all time (yes, better than "I Love Lucy"), "Seinfeld."
Non-TV faves: my sweet husband, magazines, non-fiction, knitting, crafty things, Elvis, John Mayer, buying junk I don't really need from Tar-zhay, my iPod and the night-time gaudiness of Times Square.
Now, let's return to our regularly scheduled programming, already in progress . . .
